Out Of Town Patients – Everything You Need To Know

Mia Aesthetics warmly welcomes patients from out of town. Whether you are driving in from a neighboring city of flying in from a completely different country, you can have a seamless surgical experience and a smooth recovery. Patients coming in to either of Mia Aesthetics’ locations must follow their instructions carefully to ensure a seamless experience.

Below is a list of requirements and reminders for out of town patients must follow:

Lab Work / Tests

  • We will send you the lab order 60 days ahead of your surgery date
  • Blood work and medical clearance is required within 30 days of surgery. Surgeries scheduled within two weeks of surgery date require completed labs within 48 hours of surgery
  • All patients 50 and older will be required to obtain a stress test
  • Diabetic patients need an A1C under 6.5 if operating with Dr. Charepoo. All other doctors operate with an A1C under 6.9

Patient Requirements

  • BMI (Body Mass Index) for all surgeries except tummy tucks and combo procedures must be lower than 34 upon arrival for surgery or surgery will be cancelled
  • BMI for tummy tuck and combo procedures must be 32 or less
  • Hemoglobin must be at a 12 for surgery. If hemoglobin is between 11.1 & 11.9, Cell Saver is required. Cell Saver is a blood transfusion with your own blood, reducing overall blood loss during surgery. The add-on is $500
  • Patient must list any health conditions they have and all medications they are taking in order to be approved for surgery

Prohibited Actions

  • No smoking or any drugs 30 days prior to surgery
  • No alcoholic beverages 7 days prior to surgery
  • No birth control pills 2 weeks prior to surgery
  • No amphetamines 30 days prior to surgery
  • No ibuprofen or any meds that contain Ibuprofen 30 days prior to surgery
  • Patients with silicone injections (butt shots, hydrogel etc.) are NOT candidates for BBL


  • You must arrive in your surgery city one day prior to surgery (no exceptions) and stay in your surgery city five days after your surgery. Most patients stay at a hotel, Airbnb or recovery house
  • You must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years or older (friend/family/care giver) to drop you off and pick you up after surgery. If you are planning on coming alone, you must stay in a recovery house or hire a caregiver
  • You will be discharged from our facility on the same day of your procedure

Recovery House Rules

  • Patient is responsible for choosing recovery house from current available options. Mia Aesthetics encourages patients to research and choose a provider that will best serve their needs
  • If you are traveling alone, you MUST stay at a recovery house
  • All recovery houses offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, shared transportation to appointments scheduled at Mia Aesthetics
  • Specific meal accommodations may have an additional charge in certain recovery homes. The payment is also a non-refundable and non-transferable payment
  • A shared caregiver will be at the home assisting patients; patients do not have individual assigned caregivers
  • To better accommodate patients, Mia Aesthetics does not accept companion bookings. If you’re interested in making a companion booking, please let your recovery house coordinator know and she will assist you with providing you with further information
  • If you are checking in to your recovery house on the day of pre-op, please get in contact with your recovery house owner a few days prior to your arrival to share your flight information; alternatively, you may also send your flight info to your recovery house coordinator and the coordinator will forward it to your assigned recovery home
  • If you are checking in to your recovery house the day of surgery, you are responsible for your own transportation to Mia Aesthetics the day of pre-op and the morning of your surgery. Your recovery house will pick you up AFTER your surgery appointment. Please make sure to arrive to the clinic with your ALL belongings. This will ensure the smoothest transition possible                  
  • Reservations cancelled less than 7 days prior to your check-in date will result in a deduction of a one (1) night cancellation fee. Please note the only exception for a wave of this cancellation fee is if the cancellation occurs due to a medical condition that cannot be controlled or changed
  • If you cannot check in to the recovery house on your scheduled arrival date or wish to change your check in date to your recovery house and fail to inform the recovery house at least 72 hours before your scheduled check-in date, you will be charged a no-show fee. The no-show fee equates to the cost of your first night’s stay
  • Recovery houses assume no liability for lost, misplaced, stolen, or damaged valuables or belongings. If you discover that you have left behind something of value to you, please call us immediately and we will try to assist you in locating your lost item.
  • Alcohol, illegal substances or unprescribed medications are not allowed at the recovery houses. Failure to follow this rule will result in the patient being asked to leave the premises with no refund. Please note if you do have any prescribed medications ensure that your full name is printed on the medication label
  • Guests who refuse to abide by the code of conduct and policies established by their current recovery house for the safety of all guests, staff, owners, property, and the operation and management of the recovery house will be asked to leave the premises with no refund
