Mia Aesthetics is excited to introduce our newest Board Certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Georgios Ziakas, to our Mia Aesthetics team in Houston. Dr. Ziakas started his journey to become a plastic surgeon in Greece and completed medical school at the University of Ioannina Medical school in Ioannina, Greece. He then came to the United States in 1998 and started his general surgery residency at the Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and completed his general surgery residency and was chief resident at St. Joseph Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Ziakas completed his plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, where he was also chief resident of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Ziakas always knew he wanted to go into the medical field and has always had a strong interest in plastic surgery because he loves seeing the difference it can make in a person’s life. Being an artistic person, Dr. Ziakas appreciates the creative element of plastic surgery mixed with the scientific aspect. Dr. Ziakas views and treats his patients like family and aims to guide them and do the right thing for the patient while helping deliver the body of their dreams. His goal as a surgeon is to listen to patients and give them his honest opinion to set realistic expectations and keep risks to a minimum.
While Dr. Ziakas is renowned amongst his peers for being a very down-to-earth person, he is also very calculated in what he does to provide patients with results that will make them happy. With years of experience under his belt, Dr. Ziakas particularly enjoys Tummy Tucks procedures. He also serves as a member in the Health Policy, Health Patient Safety, Healthcare Delivery, and Legislative Advisory committees of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Having worked in a hospital setting for years, Dr. Ziakas is ready to join Mia Aesthetics and looks forward to the camaraderie amongst all the plastic surgeons and working together to help transform patients’ lives. Dr. Ziakas loves Texas for its country atmosphere versus the busy city life and looks forward to working at the Mia Houston clinic. In his downtime, you can find Dr. Ziakas painting, gardening, or woodworking. He also enjoys spending time with his family and watching sci-fi movies and the history channel.
