Facial Plastic Surgery – Put Your Best Face Forward
As the name suggests, facial surgeries are those that impact the face and neck. Facial surgery is offered by some clinics as a reconstruction, repairing the damage done by an accident or other traumatic event. However, our patients seek out facial plastic surgery to change something that bothers them. You may, for example, dislike and feel self-conscious about the shape of your nose. Or perhaps you think your ears stick out too far or there are bags under your eyes. There is a facial plastic surgery to fix all these issues and more.
Remember, though, that while facial plastic surgery can fix features that bother you, it’s not meant to transform you into someone else. If you dislike a few of the things you see in the mirror, a surgeon can likely fix them. But if you can’t find a single feature to love, you may suffer from body dysmorphia or self-esteem issues. Facial plastic surgery can’t fix that.
What is the Most Common Facial Plastic Surgery?
The most common facial plastic surgery is rhinoplasty, more commonly referred to as a nose job. About 352,000 nose jobs are performed each year in the United States. While nose jobs are the most popular procedure, they’re followed closely by eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) and facelifts (rhytidectomy). These three procedures are not only the top 3 facial plastic surgeries but also the top 3 plastic surgeries overall.
How Much Does Facial Plastic Surgery Cost?
The cost of your facial plastic surgery will vary based on several factors, including what you have done. At Mia Aesthetics, brow lifts, cheek (buccal) fat removal, and ear pinning (otoplasty) are the three least expensive procedures, all starting at $3,500. Because they’re more challenging, other facial plastic surgeries come with a higher price tag.
Exactly what you pay will vary, however, based on where you go for your surgery and which doctor performs it. You will also pay more for your surgery if you combine multiple procedures into one surgery, but this can save you money in the long run. A brow lift and a facelift together will cost you more than either one alone. But combining them means one anesthesia fee, one facility fee, and one recovery period rather than two.
What is the Best Age for Facial Plastic Surgery?
There is no hard and fast answer to this question as it’s largely a matter of personal choice. Studies have shown that the younger you are when you have plastic surgery, the longer your results will last. Facelifts, for example, are common for those in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, but there is no age limit as long as you’re healthy enough to undergo the surgery. The ideal age is really when you feel the need or desire to have something done.
As a general rule, however, cosmetic surgeries are best performed on patients 18 years old and above who are done growing and are in good overall health. Ear pinning is one notable exception, with many surgeons willing to perform the procedure on children as young as 6 or 7. Some surgeons will also perform nose jobs on 16- and 17-year-old patients.
Which Plastic Surgery Changes Your Face the Most?
This is another question that is difficult to answer. Many people argue that a facelift is the facial plastic surgery that changes you the most as it can literally impact most of your face. The ability to roll back the clock a few years for a younger appearance is certainly an impressive feat. But depending on your facial features, other surgeries can have just as much of an impact. Fixing a crooked nose, for instance, can make for a pretty big change too, as can a brow lift.
Whatever facial plastic surgery you choose, the point is to get a natural result. You should still look like you when it’s done: you’ll just be a slightly better version of yourself.
